Pet Dogs
A pet which has been around for thousands of years, dogs really are one of the best companions it is possible to have; loyal, friendly, protective- it’s very easy to see why they are often called man’s best friend! The dog actually originated as a domesticated form of wolf but don’t let that put you off; almost all dogs are now incredibly docile and safe. The relative few which aren’t are now either illegal or kept under very strict regulations which ensure that they are not a danger to themselves, their owners or members of the general public.
Pet Dogs - the things to remember
There
are far too many different types of dog to go into here and no doubt you will be
familiar with the most popular breeds. The most important thing to say is to
just do your research; different breeds of dogs are just like different groups
or races of people. They all have different needs, different personalities and
are suited to different types of environment. Read up on any breed of dog before
you take the plunge into owning one- you don’t want to be left regretting your
decision once you bring your new dog home to get settled in. Dogs are the most
popular type of pet throughout the world and they have a long history of human
interaction- they really can be your best friend.
That being said, though, you need to look after them in the same way as you
would a best friend, or member of the family. This means protecting them, just
as you do your family or your home, in case the worst should happen. Vets bills
are very expensive these days and thus, with any dog, you need to ensure that
you have comprehensive cover which will help you pay for any treatment which is
needed. If you invest in a pedigree breed then this is even more important as
those types of breeds tend to be more prone to chronic health problems because
of the types of breeding programs which they undergo. You also need to take out
third party liability insurance. When you’re out walking your dog, you will come
into contact with other dogs, other people and, possibly, motorists as well. All
these things, with a dog, are a potential danger and if an accident were to
occur which was the fault of your dog you could be liable; third party insurance
protects you in these circumstances..
